Add a contribution
If you have a custom contribution that you want to add to Workmax, which is not available in the system by default, you can add it as a custom contribution. Custom contributions can be used to deduct amounts from your employees' payslips in addition to the standard contributions that are available in Workmax.
Manager or Admin Profile
- Sign in to your "Workmax" account with a manager or admin account.
- Go to the "Payroll" section.
- Click on the "Payroll settings" link.
- Click on the "Contributions" tab.
- Click on the "Add custom contribution" button.
- Enter the contribution details.
- Name - Display name for the contribution to payslips.
- Code - Unique code for the contribution.
- Calculation - Calculation method for the contribution.
- Fixed Amount - Deduct a fixed amount from the payslip.
- Percentage - Deduct a percentage of the payslip amount.
- Amount - If you selected the "Fixed Amount" calculation method, enter the fixed amount to deduct.
- Yes/No - If the contribution calculated cumulatively. Cumulative contributions are calculated based on the total amount of the contribution from previous payslips in the current tax year.
- Yes/No - If the contribution calculated with bands. Contributions with bands are calculated based on the employee's earnings within specific bands.
- Yes/No - If you want to supply band values for the contribution.
- Order - Order in which the contribution should appear on payslips.
- Select contributions which should apply before your custom contribution (if any).
- Enter the band values for the contribution (if applicable).
- Click on the "New band" button".
- Enter the band details.
- Name - Display name for the band.
- Code - Unique code for the band.
- Rate - Rate for the band.
- Max earnings - Maximum earnings for the band.
- Max contribution - Maximum contribution for the band.
- Min earnings - Minimum earnings for the band.
- Max earnings - Maximum earnings for the band.
- Repeat the process for each band.
- Enter rounding preferences for the contribution.
- Pay period conversion - Select the pay period conversion rounding method for the contribution.
- Down - Round down to the nearest whole number.
- Up - Round up to the nearest whole number.
- Fixed Down - Round down to the nearest whole number with a fixed decimal place.
- Fixed Up - Round up to the nearest whole number with a fixed decimal place.
- None - Do not round the contribution.
- Round - Round the contribution to the nearest whole number using standard rounding rules.
- Two Decimal Place Half Down - Round the contribution to two decimal places using half-down rounding. 0.5 is rounded down.
- Two Decimal Place Half Up - Round the contribution to two decimal places using half-up rounding. 0.5 is rounded up.
- Cumulative conversions - Select the cumulative conversion rounding method for the contribution.
- Down - Round down to the nearest whole number.
- Up - Round up to the nearest whole number.
- Fixed Down - Round down to the nearest whole number with a fixed decimal place.
- Fixed Up - Round up to the nearest whole number with a fixed decimal place.
- None - Do not round the contribution.

- Two Decimal Place Half Down - Round the contribution to two decimal places using half-down rounding. 0.5 is rounded down.
- Two Decimal Place Half Up - Round the contribution to two decimal places using half-up rounding. 0.5 is rounded up.
